HPV

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) disease and prevention

When:
October 25, 2023 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Where:
Zoom – Digital Delivery, Vancouver BC

The incidence of oropharyngeal cancer has risen over the past 2 decades and has been attributed to human papillomavirus (HPV). The link between HPV and cervical cancer is well established; and Canada has one of the lowest incidence rates of cervical cancer in the world thanks to detection and vaccination, but HPV-related head and neck cancers present a different picture. Pharmacists and oral health professionals in public health and clinical settings have a role to play in the fight against HPV transmission.

Join Dr. Samson Ng as he describes the burden of HPV-related disease in Canada including head and neck cancers, discuss the latest data, indications and recommendations of HPV vaccines in men and women, as well as understand the role that community pharmacists play in the prevention of HPV-related diseases and cancers.
