Becoming Elite: A Playbook for Building a High - Performance Team - 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

In this dynamic and high-energy session, Angus will unveil the playbook for building an elite team culture, sharing real-life experiences and actionable insights that drive maximum performance.
About the speaker:
Angus is a former professional football who played 13 years for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League. The Richmond Born native who went to Vancouver College before attending Simon Fraser University played in 200 professional games placing him in the top 5 all time for games played by a BC Lion.
Throughout his career, Angus has been a 3-time all-star, 2- time Grey Cup Champion and 5-time team captain. He has transitioned from the field to the business world and has built a successful career as a commercial insurance producer at Reliance Insurance. He is also the lead facilitator for the groundbreaking program, “Be More Than A Bystander” that teaches employees how to comfortably stand up to inappropriate behavior and support a healthy work culture. Angus has done two successful TEDx talks, as well as written an Amazon best-selling book “Thank You, Coach”. In his free time Angus coaches high school football and recently helped his team, the Vernon Panthers, become provincial football Champions.

Growing your Immunization Service : Screening and Intervening to Protect your Patients Against Respiratory Diseases - 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
Pharmacists in British Columbia have been extensiely involved in adminstering vaccinations since 2009, and have had their reputation as knowedgeable and accessible providers significantly enhanced since the COVID-19 pandemic. Discover the potential of optimizing your pharmacy scope and workflow in making clinically significant differences in the health of your patients by protecting them against respiratory diseases.
About the speaker:
Ajit Johal has been providing immunizations and clinical education since 2012. As a community pharmacist, he is an accessible provider of immunizations to patients in the community. In 2018, he started an organization called immunize.io with a mission statement of “taking our best shot at immunizing the world”.He champions community pharmacists as leaders of immunization services and presents on this topic at a national and global level.

COVID- 19 Five Years Later ---- Do we Still Need to Worry? - 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
This session will talk about COVID 5 years later, it's lasting impact and continued presence.
Learning objectives will include:
- Discuss the lasting impact of COVID-19
- Discuss COVID's continued presence and what it means to health-care providers
About the speaker:
Dr. Angel Chu is an Infectious Diseases consultant at the Foothills Medical Center and Clinical Assistant Professor at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. She is also the medical director of the Calgary STI Clinic. Dr. Chu was former Vice-Chair of Immunize Canada and has a special interest in vaccine-preventable diseases and immunizations.

A Village Around Every Family: Cultural Safety in Systems - 12: 30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
This Keynote from the Village Workshop Series© is a celebration of the resilience that has sustained us as Indigenous peoples since time immemorial. We will deepen our understanding regarding the decolonization of our organizations and learn about how we can increase cultural safety for families who have Indigenous ancestry. From this learning comes an increased understanding of respectful ways of engaging and working collaboratively in order to build more culturally safe systems.
About the speaker:
Kathi Camilleri (Spotted Doe) is of Metis/Cree/Ojibwa Ancestry. She holds a master's degree in leadership studies and Certificates in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy.
She facilitates strategic planning sessions, keynotes and experiential Village© workshops regarding Canada's Policy of Assimilation and Colonization with all levels of government, students and educators, and frontline workers in communities across Canada. Clinical Management of Alcohol Use - Updated Guidelines and Best Practices - 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
A Canadian guideline for the clinical management of high-risk drinking and Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) was published in 2023, developed in partnership between the Canadian Research Initiative on Substance Matters (CRISM) and the BC Centre on Substance Use (BCCSU). AUD impacts individual health and has large societal costs. In spite of high prevalence, high-risk drinking and AUD frequently go unrecognized and untreated in the health care system. This session will summarize information from Canada's Guidance on Alcohol and Health.
About the speaker:
Dr. Mona Kwong has practiced as a pharmacist for over 25 years. She is the Pharmacy Advisor and Director for the Pharmacy Stream of the Interdisciplinary Addictions Clinical Fellowship Program at the BC Centre on Substance Use, clinical pharmacist consultant at Infinity Medical Specialists Clinic, and is the managing partner of a community pharmacy in Vancouver.
Mona obtained a Bachelor of Pharmacy and Master of Science from University of British Columbia, Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Florida, and a Master of Public Administration from Queen's University. Mona enjoys enhancing the quality of patient care, promoting collaborative teams, and is passionate about knowledge translation and education (public and peers) and mentorship of junior health care professionals and students. Professionally, she remains involved in various interdisciplinary groups and committees. Mona has presented in local, national, and international seminars and has received awards for practice, leadership and research.
