Learning Objectives

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the pathophysiology of atopic dermatitis
  • Identify the signs and symptoms of atopic dermatitis in the Canadian population and appreciate the burden of disease
  • Identify and differentiate between various treatment options for atopic dermatitis, including over-the-counter remedies, prescription medications, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Develop effective communication strategies to empower patients with atopic dermatitis through education, shared decision-making, and ongoing support.

About the Speaker: William Matthew Yee Sui Chun

William Matthew Yee Sui Chun is a pharmacist based in Montreal, Canada, practicing since 2013 . His career has traversed various settings, including community practice, hospital pharmacy, medical affairs, and since 2021, the dermatological skincare industry. Committed to advancing the role of pharmacists in patient care, he has served as a preceptor for pharmacy students from esteemed institutions such as Université Laval, Université de Montréal, Université de Paris-Sud, University of Waterloo, and the University of British Columbia since 2014. He has presented at PharmacyU and university conferences on topics ranging from the management of specific skin conditions like seborrheic dermatitis and the importance of photoprotection to broader therapeutic areas such as wound healing, atopic dermatitis, and acne management by community pharmacists. Demystifying all the available treatment options for dermatological conditions, he aims to make the pharmacist a reference for common skin conditions.

Learning Hours

This program is non-accredited. Total learning hours is estimated at 1.0 hour. Participants will receive a letter of participation after completing a survey at the end of the webinar.
