Patients who received their first dose of AstraZeneca COVID-19 at a pop-up clinic or other location outside of pharmacy can now go to a community pharmacy to receive a second dose of the vaccine.
There are more than 70,000 British Columbians who received their first dose of AstraZeneca outside of a pharmacy. The BC Pharmacy Association has listed all B.C. pharmacies taking appointments for second doses of vaccine at bcpharmacy.ca/vaccines. Pharmacies will be listed according to their health authority region.
Patients should bring their record of immunization and photo ID. Individuals can register with Health Gateway and access their immunization record at https://www.healthgateway.gov.bc.ca/
There is no change for patients who received their first-dose at a pharmacy. Patients who received the first dose at a pharmacy will be contacted by their pharmacist to arrange their second shot.
In accordance with public health guidelines, patients who are contacted by their pharmacist for a second dose of AstraZeneca will also be informed that they can choose to receive an mRNA vaccine at a public health clinic instead.
