The BC Pharmacy Association will be hosting a webinar on February 13, 2023 with Dr. Varinder Parmar, a renowned physician and expert in the field of sleep medicine, psychiatry, and family medicine. During this session, pharmacists will have the chance to discuss clinical strategies and explore ways to improve outcomes in patients with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). Dr. Parmar will provide insights on the various treatment modalities and how to apply the clinical guidelines in example case studies.

About the Speaker: Dr. Varinder Parmar
Dr. Varinder Parmar is a highly qualified and experienced physician who has received numerous awards and accolades for his expertise in the field of sleep medicine, psychiatry, and family medicine. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Manipal University of Higher Education in India and went on to pursue residency in psychiatry from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada. He further advanced his education by completing a clinical research fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Parmar is currently serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia and also holds the position of Assistant Professor in the Departments of Family Medicine and Psychiatry at Queen’s University in Canada. He holds several certifications and licenses including Diplomate of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada for Sleep Medicine (DRCPSC) and is an independent licensed practitioner in the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia and Ontario. He has also received awards such as the Excellence in Teaching Award from Queen’s University, the Coordinator of Post Graduation Psychiatric Education (COPE) Examination Resident Award, and the Annual Best Presentation by a Resident Award.
Dr. Parmar currently serves as an attending staff at various hospitals in Canada including Surrey Memorial Hospital, Sleep Disorder Clinic in Oshawa, and Lakeridge Health in Oshawa. He has previously worked as an Attending Staff in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and as a Duty Doctor at the Ontario Shore Hospital in Whitby. With his extensive experience, education, and certifications, Dr. Varinder Parmar is a highly regarded physician who continues to make significant contributions to the field of medicine.
