Background
On Mar. 4, 2024, B.C.'s Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and the BC Centre for Disease Control issued a reminder to the public for people to check their vaccine records before travelling. On Oct. 29, 2024, the BC Centre for Disease Control issued an advisory to travellers at Vancouver International Airport on Oct. 16, 2024, for a potential exposure to measles.
Babies as young as six months should get vaccinated against measles before travelling to countries where measles is spreading. Children between one and four years can also get their second dose before travelling internationally.
